Celebrate the Heart of Quilt month with us!

This is the second year for our local South Central Wisconsin Quilt Shop Association to partner with the American Heart Association and celebrate the “Heart of Quilting”.

Our unique shop hop has fifteen shops participating and is built around  red and white quilts.  Now when we are speaking about red and white you will see our neutral interpretation of white is all about how we perceive the popular neutral with our fabrics and we have also incorpo052rated the new neutral grey.  Some quilts featured are lighter than others but its how we blend our  recognizable style.

I am also excited to offer two days during the month of scissor sharpening for our quilters , we hope you will take advantage of this service on February 5th and February 20th.  Mike will be in at 10am in our Scho017olRoom, there will also be sweet treats because you all know it is a sweet month, when chocolate reins!

The shop has undergone another transformation and most of our projects are finished and ready to be shown off.  We can hardly wait to share our efforts with you.  On the bed you are seeing what we are calling “The Farmhouse Comforter” is lofty and cozy because of a double bat and the way we had it quilted.  Just a note for you this quilt will fit a king size bed.  W003e do not do lots of large quilts but this is a favorite.

You can also see at the bottom of the bed a new hourglass quilt Selma made for us called “February Mornings”. What a great way to get through the gloomy days of February. 035

If you are looking for a more traditional pattern“Valentina” is another choice you might want to consider. This quilt was

designed by Suzanne and is a traditional criss cross pattern.  020 The background is one of my favorite lacy looking old background prints from the Settlement.   If you really are looking for smaller project that you can get done quickly.  Jeanne has designed “Sweet Heart“.  You will absolutely love the use of the Marcus fabric line Red is the New Neutral floral print.  Its stunning and so pleasing to the eye, but Jeanne has also shown this pattern using a more solid red print and gosh its going to come down to personal preference.  Both patterns are offered in the pattern and we have made up both kits, it measures 27″ x 27”.  The second option is called “Be Mine”.010  We love the fact we are able to offer you good  choices.  Just thinking about what a great way to personalize a wedding gift for a special couple.

Jeanne also made up a really sweet 33″ x 44″ quilt called “Double Dutch”.  Its 003a wonderful traditional pattern and being able to put pinks and reds and browns together really is a nice fit for the season.  Picture it with a bunch of tulips.  Our tulips are coming in next week I guess you know where they will go.  I think the size and pattern would also be a good fit for a baby quilt if that is on your radar list of necessary quilts to make in 2016.  You can also see we have been busy cutting up the new Laundry Basket “Silver Linings” shirtings.  Really good ladies and we all know q005uilters never have enough of these in their stash.  We have three different options and they are posted on line so you get your favorite or you might ju007st decide to get all three there 29 options available.

We just had to bring back Selma’s little “Valentine Star” topper because it was last years nickel club project that everyone wanted but it was a club piece.  Pretty sweet, pretty swell and it can be yours!

There is even more than this, we still have a few “Snowbound kits le011ft, this is going to be one of the quilts we are donating to the Heart Association Silent Auction so if you don’t want to sew it and love it, its a worthy cause you won’t regret donating to.  Our second quilt we are donating is called “Corona034do”, I love this one as it has a more muckled appearance and it is made out of my fabric.

I am so hopeful this will be a great month and that we have the cabin fever solution to help you get through the rest of winter, I hope you will plan a visit or stay at the guest house Second Story retreat space.
