New Arrivals

September 1, 2010

Just thought you might like to see the newest Maggie pattern.  We have been all screaming since we she sent us a picture.  We expect to have it in time for Quilt Expo next week. The runner is 9" x 33"  a perfect size and a perfect new fall project.  I am going to attempt to blog ladies or maybe tweet.  One of these days I'll get it.  Last night I took home some of our newest arrivals and decided to set up a dining vignette so you could number one see our Handkerchief Patchwork Table Cloth fabric.   It is 50 inches wide which is perfect for my harvest table and since it is sold by the yard you can get the length you need and only have to finish one side.  More good news we are selling it for $15.00 a yard.  It is so beautiful I can't stand it, as I looked at the pictures I was so excited I couldn't stand it, I hope you will be too.  I also wanted you to see our new 3ft. Cypress pine trees that just arrived.  I am a tree lover you can never have too many trees and this one is really a good one and if you put it on a primitive riser I see no reason why you couldn't use it like I have on your holiday table.  It sells for$51.75 and as soon as we get our reproduction pieced tree skirt back from the quilter I will give you yet another view with another setting idea using the skirt.  It is not to early to think holiday especially if you think you might want to get some of these new projects done for your holiday decor.  I am hoping to get an idea of how you like these items I'm thinking we need to order more.  I also snapped some pictures of one of Reed's gardens at the house, it's kind of wild but pretty considering the heat and rain storms we have had.

We just got the new Blackberry Primitive patterns that are designed by Maggie Bonanomi in and actually have kits cut to go with.  The first pattern is called "Two Birds in the Garden" it is a neat wool applique' that measures 17 x 36.  The pattern is $9.00 and the kit is $57.00.

The next pattern is called Autumn Blooms and it measures 22 x 25 1/2.  The pattern is $9.00 and the kit sells for $49.00.

I wanted to bring you all up to speed on how our baby is growing.  Sara had Miss Carley's picture taken at 7 months and the other picture was taken on the 4th of July.  Our little girl loves to get dressed up she takes after her Mama.  I just love her excitement and awe over new things.  She is almost 8 months now and wants to crawl but has not figured it out yet.  I think it won't be long.  She visited the shop over the weekend and the girls in the Civil War Class saw her showing off her dancing feet she reminds me of a little Shirley Temple as she dances on the table top.  We still don't know about her eye color I haven't given up on brown yet.

Our new quilt this week is just the best.  Vickie designed and has written the pattern for this quilt it is called "Pheasant Run".  This quilt got its name from the beautiful pheasant toile fabric we used through out. The old gold focus fabric we used contributes to the beauty of this quilt and I really think it gives it an all over vintage feel. The quilt measures 66 x 86, the patterns are $8.50 and the kits are $125.50 and include the binding.  We all love this quilt.  We  started our new Vintage Class today and this is the quilt the class has chosen to do.  It is not too late to jump on board this class meets once a month. Give us a call if you think you would enjoy making this quilt in a class atmosphere.  Vickie is your instructor.  I thought you might enjoy seeing a couple of our new primitive gear for your home.  This is one of the neatest sewing organizers we have had and it looks great with old and new decor because of the subtle aged coloration.  The cost of this piece runs $245.00.  The next new piece is an old biscuit and crackers box.  You are seeing a lot of this type of thing being used in home decor magazines right now, advertising is huge.  This would be another great addition to your decor and can be filled or kept closed and used for fabric storage, the cost is $159.00.  Again the subtle colors are very easy to work around and enjoy.

"COMFORT ZONE" HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!  You will all be screaming, and jumping out of your skin over this book by Maggie Bonanomi it is definitely a home run straight out of the park. What a winner, and it's a must have for your book library.  The book is  full of more  great primitive projects that reflect our Maggie's special gift, I want to do at least six and that is conservative.  The cost for 18 projects is so worth the $26.95.  I think you will enjoy this preview.  The 1845 wool bed comfort is very inviting and I can definitly see myself loving this project for its simplicity and what a great comfort for a cold night.  If you like to do wool table mats the Pomegranate Runner would be just perfect and a great addition to your fall table.  If you enjoy sewing rolls I think you will find Maggie's sweet little Sewing circle kit a fun project you will enjoy doing.  I am loving how she has put her dyeing secrets in the book because  you know we all want and need our projects to look just like hers.  Another project I love is called Initially Yours it is a 9 x 13 wool letter pillow.  This just so fits into the new clean country decor you see in the magazines i will need to make one or two of these for sure.  The last project I'm going to show you is a huge winner in my book, I love Maggie's Urn Full of Flowers, I will do this up and frame it but like Maggie suggests she will not frame hers as she likes to be able to pin it up on her doors and cupboards.  I ordered the silk Matka she used today. So, what's the verdict?  Are you dancing yet?  I hope you will call us and order a copy, we can have the book at your door step in just a matter of days depending on your location.

The clock is ticking and we are ready to greet our Quilters attending the Summer Road Trip.  I can't remember ever having so many new quilts.  I think I have counted 13.  Pretty impressive to say the least and each one is so different but they still all go together and have our look.  I happen to have 2 favorites they are "Letters From Aunt Nancy"  which is the Road Trip block we were all given to interpret and I have to say the colors, the design, and it's size make this a very desirable choice.   We used Civil War fabrics to make this 93" x 95" quilt and our kits sell for $155.00.  The next quilt is my absolute "fav" it is called the "Early Waterman Reproduction Quilt". If you know me you know I love a neutral quilt, they are my all time favorites because they go anywhere.  I predict this will be a winner for sure and wait until you see how we had it quilted you're going to really get excited.   The early Waterman is a reproduction inspired by the Winterthur Quilt Tour that is Milwaukee until September.  Our kit makes a 77" x 96" quilt and the kit sells for $98.00 and that includes our informational instructions as well.  Another plus is you can put this all together on a hot summer afternoon.  It is a great summer project I hope you like it.  We are also really loving the Fireflies quilt Carol made up.  I think the reason we love it so much is it is made with lots of different background prints which gives it great interest the original pattern called for just one.  The little fireflies block is fun and really does remind you of summer and fireflies flashing about.  The quilt is 55" x 67" and our kit sells for $98.00.  You need the Summer Gatherings book to make it and it is $28.00.  I'll be anxious to see and hear your thoughts about this choice.   I just snapped another picture of "Evangeline", what a beauty this quilt is and it has a lot to do with how Selma placed the colors and prints but the border print she used really melds it all together  Borders are so important they can make or break a quilt. Here is another look at the French General Rural Jardin quilt "Country Charm" from the new Country Inn book by Blackbird Designs. This kit is $65.50 and has been flying out of the store.  We wish we could get our hands on more fabric.  I love the ruffled edge Suzanne put on it really is the frosting on the quilt.  The last quilt is finally finished we are calling this quilt "Independence Day".  We chose to make this into a strip quilt.  The red strip is a 12 inch pieced hourglass block, the light strip is a new eagle printed fabric that we think makes the perfect light strip. The top of the quilt is the star field and we chose a new Baum Gettysburg star print that seems to just make a perfect top and a perfect looking Independence Day Flag for your bed or it could be used as a throw.  The quilt measures 72" x 90" and the kit includes the pattern and binding for $113.50.  If you know me you know how much I love patriotic quilts and this one in particular would make a wonderful Soldier quilt for a loved one in the services, Let Freedom Ring!

I hope you will be able to take a day in the country and enjoy our Summer Roadtrip it goes through Sunday and you can even win some really great prizes.  It's a good thing!

The girls have been really busy cutting fat quarters the past couple of weeks.  We just had to cut up the new line of Williamsburg and Old Glory because they were such great fabrics.   Most of the rolls are a great mixture of blues, reds  and tans and have 3 1/2 3 3/4 yards in each roll.  The cost is $35.00 - $37.50.  Not only is it the right time of the year but the Williamsburg is really a Civil War line that screams good anytime and I know many of just like collecting these fabrics because they work so well in scrappy quilts the Williamsburg packs are on the top left and right and of course you can see our Old Glory packs, these have 14 fat quarters in each for $35.85. This pack has great blues, reds,  and browns with stars, stripes, and eagles you are going to love.  It just would be a great way to add to your stash.  We have several different rolls to choose from or you can have us send a collection of what we have of Old Glory and Williamsburg.

Did you know we have 3 sizes of our old fashioned black scissors?  We do!  We have carried the 4" for $15.40 but now we have a 6" for $23.60 and we also carry a 7 1/2 " for $27.50.  Not only do they look primitive and old they also cut just as great.  You will notice the Flying Geese Roll ups in the background.  These are kits from "A Bird In Hand" book by Renee' Plains.  We have made up 2 different kits from my Worn & Love II fabrics and sell them for $19.95.  You can also see the Hourglass table runner in the background it is another new kit we just finished.  If you haven't seen "A Bird Hand Book" it really is fun and filled with great projects and sells for $26.95.  We did up the "When Birds Fly" Quilt it is 43" x 55" just a great wall size for an entry and kind of perfect for summer in the soft old Worn & Love II colors.  It would be great hanging over an antique chest too.  We have also kitted this project and it sells for $58.50. You can make any of these projects up in a summer afternoon.  You can also see Mrs. Pearson a Carriage House cross stitch that looks old and fits nicely with the bird theme.  Another stitchery you may have overlooked is by Chessie & Me it is called The Notforgotten Sampler. It is unique because it is stitched with the Gentle Arts Wool Threads and Linda has taken great care to reproduce this sampler perfectly.  The pattern is $10.00 and the wool thread pack sells for $66.65. Sunday Dinner is one of our newest quilt projects.  We are using it for a table topper that is why we called it "Sunday Dinner" and the really fun thing about this is we have made it reversible so if the pieced side gets soiled you can just turn it over and use the Le Poulet all over print.  I ended up using a 1/2 box of Rit tan on this piece just to tone it done and soften the whole thing ever so slightly and it worked. Unfortunately I took these pictures before dying the topper so I will take more to show you the difference.  The kit with the backing and our large black ric-rac trim  will sell for $98.00.  Our pattern is not ready yet but there will be an additional charge for the pattern which will not be a lot because we are able to put it in the kit this time.  Suzanne made up a great butcher style apron that is also reversible you will need two yards of fabric for that. just coordinates work really well.  We also have a great market bag pattern we could also send you so you are totally coordinated for the shopping, cooking and dinner.  You will also notice I have pictured our place settings of dishes and the new antique vintage silver plated flatware, a set of flatware runs $27.50 and every piece is beautiful I have always wanted to do this when I set my table and I know it is something you may wish to do too.  Remember we carry some really napkins too, one of my favorites is the crumbs.   I have them in the serving bowl that goes with our dishes and I have it sitting in the bowl holder I find myself using for everything.  I love different heights and layers on a table, it is always better than flat.  My next pictures are going to be great projects too.  We have redone our Baby Lil with my Simpler Tymes fabrics and when I think about the 1800's I think folks would have made do and this would have been a quilt appropriate for any new family baby.  It is gender friendly.  Vickie has also miniaturized her Little Irene pattern so we could frame it.  I hope you like this option we are making kits using our new nickel squares and the pattern is all redone.

We just finished the Rural Jardin "Country Charm" quilt.  We love this quilt not only is it beautiful and airy feeling for summer but the girls and I think it would make a fabulous baby girl quilt.  I especially love the ruffled binding, what a great way to finish a quilt just leave it up to those Blackbird Design girls for a really great finishing idea.  It is not ordinary in any way and it is such an easy quilt to put together.  We used the pattern in Blackbirds new Country Charm book and notice in the background how adorable our little French pillows look with the quilt.

I would like to give you a preview of our two newest quilts. We used a contemporary looking pattern but when you use a line of fabric like we did  you get a whole different look.  The Space Between is pretty fun, I love the fabrics we used.  This fabric is called "Sophia" I'm not sure why but even though it is filled with busy prints and in black, red and cream when it is all together it is stunning.  It is not in your face it is muddled up and beautiful and looks great on the bed.  The overall size is 60 x 69.

Carol just finished Mixed Peppercorn another great new pattern we picked up at market.  I like this particular project because of the many possibilities you have.  It could be a great cupboard door hanger, look great in that small space you have been wanting to fill or used as a table runner it is 27 x 51.  You will find we have used some great Worn & Loved II fabrics.  We just got in the greatest new rack rick trims this week in just the best colors you can imagine.  It sells for $1.20 a yard.  we have old rose, lime and olive greens, olde gold, tan, black and what you see.  You are looking at one of my very favorite patriotic stitcheries.  This is Sweet Land of Liberty By Chessie and Me, if you been trying to find a new summer project this could be just the one.

Here is the newest pics of Miss Carley in her bumble chair and our oldest grandson Michael who graduated from 8th grade.   It has been a busy family time. This graduation is a new thing from the time our kids were growing up but we found it to be a neat transition ceremony. I have been promising a new picture of our little grandaughter Carley so here she is waiting for her Nana.  I will be babysitting her this coming week and thought you might enjoy seeing how much she has grown.  She is almost rolling over and look at her little rolls and cheeks don't you just want to eat them up they are so cute at this age.  I am definitely missing her.  I hope I can get more pictures for next week.  I plan on dressing her up a few times because baby clothes today are just so much fun and we will go visiting my friend Julie at JJStitches.

I also thought you might enjoy a peak or maybe it is tease at the projects in the new Primitive Gatherings book Summer Gatherings.  It is really a book to enjoy.  We will be making the Fireflies quilt up for the shop. What a perfect summer project for sure. The kit is ready and sells for $98.00.   The book sells for $28.00 and there are 48 pages filled with wool projects, quilts, stitchery, and recipes for summer gatherings.  I know you will enjoy this new book.   The Prairie Rose Table rug is another favorite and Northern Lights is a real beauty I love the black brown and tan combinations when we use them in any quilt but this is really very stunning.

I finally got those great new dishes in the cupboard as I had intended to do.  You can really see them so much better this way and I thought you might like an idea on the cost of the pieces we have.  The dishes are made in Portugal and are a hand painted earthenware they call " Clos du Manior" Rhone, they are dish washer and microwave safe. The dishes are so nice to handle, not too thin and not too heavy and the small bead detail is just a classic look that dresses your table.

Here are the prices:  The dinner plates are $22.00, the luncheon plates are $19.50, the soup/salad bowls are $20.00, the cereal bowls are $21.25, the mugs are $19.75, the cup and saucers are a set and sell for $22.50.  We have wonderful serving pieces the large serving bowl can be used for so many things and it sells for $74.00, the serving platter is $88.00 and then we have cake plates, I love these, the small plate is $35.00 and look how neat a glass cloche looks on top, the cloche is $30.00.  We also have a large cake plate and it sells for $40.00.   You can also see in the pictures a great little Paris wire votive holder or what about using it as a server for condiments, and jams, it costs $36.25.  The tea lights we are using are new and cost $2.50 a piece and will never mess up the glass holders.  Le Poulet is another new fabric line we just got in today and we think our new dishes will set off so nicely with this line, we have lots of ideas but in the meantime I thought you might like to at least see it and start dreaming.  Homestead Lane is the quilt showing on the door.  Don't forget about our fun strawberry and watermelon pinkeeps, we have kits.  Here is just a close up of our wonderful old sheep with one of our neat French Bird framed pieces.

I still love our Flag Day Farm cheater quilt it looks so good when you pull it out for summer.  Color pops if you use it for a table covering and it just looks great with flags etc.  The quilt is 76 x 76 and the kit sells for $65.00 you can also buy it with the backing for $90.00.  Be sure to take note of our new rabbit.  Selma and I fell in love with him at market.  He is a good size and sells for $56.25.  If you collect rabbits this one is for you.

I put the our new "Antique Nines" which is 62 x 75 on our little bed because it looks great on a bed or use it as a cozy cover-up.  The kit sells for $123.00 and our pattern is $8.50.  You can see our George in the background.

I thought you would like to see a couple new things this week since we are leaving for the show.    Selma also finished a new one I really love the Zig Zag Quilt.  I also will give you a look at the new "Sophia" fabric line, I'll let you be the judge.  We are just putting together a new kit we call the "Space Between" and the name comes from pinwheels in the space between, it is 60 x 69 and the kit sells for $75.00. I think you will absolutely love it we picked a new designers pattern and I'm telling you you will love these fabrics and this gorgeous quilt. It should be off to the quilter this week so watch for the final results.  We have many other plans for this line too.

Look what just came through the door today, it is our new French General "Rural Jardin".  We will be making a little something wonderful up for your summer porch just as soon as we get back from the show.  We all love the soft faded  farmhouse looking prints and the fresh look is so perfect for summer.  We have wonderful new toweling with a grayed out blue stripe and some great twill stripes you will enjoy working with too.  That could be runners, placemats, towels and pillows and the toweling at $6.00 a yard makes it very appealing.  If you are eyeing the the little quilt on the door it is called Little Irene.  It remains one of my favorite quilts, it was designed by our own Miss Vickie.  We also have a new quilt called Garden Furrows personally I think it is pretty neat we had done the same pattern up last year in reds and it looks pretty great in the brown and cream colors.  It is 52 x 60 and the kit is $69.50  We also made several new items out of the new book by Renee Plains, When Birds Fly is the the little quilt project and we made it out of Worn & Loved II fabrics it is 43 x 55 and sells for $58.50.  The book you need sells for $26.95 it was the hot book at the show.  We also made up the bird pinkeeps out of the remaining fabric from the quilt kit they are sitting in the cupboard.  You will also like the Flying Geese Roll ups, we have two color combinations and the kits are $19.95.  I think you could also put jewelry in them and just make your pockets so they close tight.  Windy Sister is another new quilt we have made up, what a fun Country Threads pattern, we had to alter it a bit and make it bigger but it turned out just great.  Our finished quilt ended up 66 x 78 and the kit sells for $125.00.  I have it on one of our quilt racks in the window.  I see this as a great summer quilt with some patriotic value, it looks old and loved with all of the color choices we made.  If you love Civil War Era and Patriotic I think You will love our New George II.  He is quite handsome and makes a grand statement hung you can see good photos on our What's New page.

I have finally have had a chance to get our new dishes on the floor.  We are all in love with them because of the color they go with anything, but the lines are simple and very classic.  I will be anxious for you to see them, they are made in Portugal and there are so many wonderful serving pieces to choose from this will at least give you an idea of what I was talking about this week on my email.

I just remade one of our little display beds with another new quilt, it is our "May Baskets", we used a great Pink Chocolate signature floral on the border and we are pretty sure you will love the outcome as much as we do.  What a great spring quilt.  Prairie Bound is another new quilt Vickie has put together for us and I think you will love the feel of this great soft quilt  We have sold completely out of this kit. Knowing how much everyone loved it we will be redoing this kit up in my new Simpler Tymes fabric line so you will get a chance to love it again, we just got our strike offs in and we will be making the model up to send to quilt market.  I think you might like seeing our new Lincoln Farm Boy Table topper.  We have to have some fun patriotic pieces every year and with all of us thinking this is what we have come up with this year.  I guess you might like to have a look at our NEW GEORGE.  He is definitely a show stopper and we always pray we have one, I hope you like what you see.  These are just a sampling of the new quilts we will show at Quilt festival.    I also made up our little display bed in one of my favorite little designer panels and it looked so good I thought you might like to see it again and if you thought about it once and did not buy it this is your chance before it is retired because the kits are limited.  I love the French farmhouse pillows can't you just imagine them our on your summer porch.  I finally have a picture of our Antique Nines.  This was a popular quilt choice at Quilt Festival.  the quilt is 62" x 75" and the kit sells for $123.00.  Here is another view of our nines in the shop.

Everyone has been asking to see a new picture of our little Miss  Carley so Sara just sent such a cute one I thought I would share it with you.  She was styling in her Badger attire last weekend when we were in the playoff games in Florida.  So here is our Badger Baby!

Carley has grown and changed so much in the past 3 months I can hardly believe my eyes every time I see her she changes.   Now we are getting ready for her baptism that will be another special family day for us all.

I still keep thinking about this blog idea so I will try this out on you again . I invited our Willows & Blooms guests out to my house for a Meet and Greet event and the girls enjoyed seeing how I get my house ready for spring so I thought I would share it with you.  I ordered the most beautiful fresh tulips from our local florist in town.  They came in from Canada and oh my, they are still so special.  You will also see many silk blooms worked into the decor and of course they have come from the shop.  I think flowers are so cheerful you can't help but love the way they make you and your guests feel.  You can see I love to use the old rabbit molds and this year we have some great new molds from Walnut Ridge the running rabbit to the left is one.  You probably aren't too surprised to see quilts everywhere in the house, I roll them, stack them, hang them on cupboard doors, and use them on my sofa or chairs.  The large white tulips are so beautiful and everyone has to touch them because they look so real.  I have them in the schoolroom in a huge crock.  If you have big rooms that need a big statement then you will enjoy these early blooms in your decor too.  I love to use the clear glass cloches, they look great everywhere and we have all sizes in the shop, you will see them used in the spring magazines and they are very reasonably priced.  On the left you can see one of my favorite Stacy patterns Emma's Pinkeep Drum with old strawberries on the top.  On the right one of favorite Maggie patterns the Bird Nest graces my chair and the first 25 patch quilt celebrating our 25th year of business.  On the left you see my favorite angel.  She moves around my house for every season and I always have her holding something this time it is bird and sometimes it is a wreath or basket.  That's as much as I have for you today I'm sorry I forgot my camera the night everyone visited, it was festive and lots of fun.

It is raining cats and dogs today we even had thunder and hail overnight, I guess that makes it really a typical March day in the neighborhood.   This is a picture of our guests attending this event and just look they all have finished projects.  The weather was really a good thing for our first annual "Willows and Blooms Gathering" because we were inside with all the cheery fun spring projects Stacy presented.  Who cares if there is rain, our girls were here to have fun and learn all the primitive finishing tips they can from one of the best primitive designers and see all of the new spring additions in the shop.  I wanted to just give you a look at the baskets and projects Stacy Nash is teaching and I also wanted to give you a look at the shop with its new spring gear.  How about this boardwalk bunny for $49.99?  He is about 27 inches high and I think he would make  a perfect spring greeter. Here are some more pictures of the early blooms in the shop.  The foxtails are $12.50 a stem and if you love hyacinths then you will love how stately this looks with its iron base and old nest it is $81.00.  We also love white tulips and when you put tulips in clear glass they really look good.  The tulips in the vase sell for $88.00. The Mr. rabbit you are seeing with the tulips is a Bethany Lowe for $34.60 and the spring lamb is also a Bethany Lowe and it sells for $15.00.  You will notice a cloche over the sheep it sells for $30.00.

Let the wild rumpus begin and then suddenly it will be spring in the shop.  It has begun and I thought you might enjoy a preview.  The view on the left shows of Gentle Grace a great quilt designed by Suzanne and it used the Worn & Loved II fabric line.  It was bright today so I will work on more pictures later but you can at least get an idea and see our new geraniums, wire cloches, chocolate mold rabbits, there are several even a big chick.

The tulip bouquets, and Bethany Lowe Boy Rabbit really make you feel a little giddy too.  We have great new spring napkins in and

how about the crazy primitive hare that looks like a big old carrot, I think he would be good on a cupboard door and very fun to make up.  Isn't spring fun?

I have a great new punch needle designer Jan Goos to tell you about. Feather your spring nests with "Goos Nest" designs.   Jan's designs have previously been seen in the Need'l Love Thread books.  These designs are great, if you love to do punch needle I'm pretty sure these will become favorites they are very unique.  The first design on the left is called Garden Urn, the cost is $16.00, next we have Gatherings from the Garden it is $14.00 and then we have Bunny Wishes also $14.00.  There is another great rabbit we are still waiting to get in.

I'm back!  What a great market.  I am going to start out with Blackbird Designs new book "Honeysuckle Manor" which is a book designed and inspired by an antique sampler Barb found on E-bay.  Louisa Bell her age has not been completely determined but the sampler and all of the pin keep accessories and Alma's interpretation  of the sampler just make this another  must have book.  The book is priced at $25.00 and we will have thread packs and linen for your convenience.  Louisa's sampler was re-named in honor of Barbs great, great, great, grandmother Hannah Lovina Joslin.  This is the Margaret Harris sampler and it is done in all Crescent Colours Belle Soie silks.  I have thread packs and linen coming in and it only requires 5 silks so that gives you an affordable taste of stitching with these yummy threads.  I am picturing some of the smalls, on the right we have "Pin and Needle Cupcakes" and we do have the bases all ready to ship so let me know if you would like us to include any of these with your order.   The "Honeysuckle Pin Box" is also shown with a tape measure and pinball.  Trust me this is a beautiful book to own, you will not be disappointed.

News' Flash!!!!  This is going to be a New Club it will not be Loose Feathers anymore but that is not to say there will not be a Loose Feathers sometime in the future this is a club for all of you out there that love houses.  I can't hardly resist a house when it comes to choosing a new pattern.    It is called "Anniversaries of the Heart"    you will get a new house pattern each month that will be stitched on one piece of linen 30 count Olde Town Blend.  We will send you the linen and threads and the first two patterns when you sign up and then send the pattern and additional threads needed to complete each design that comes out.  Here are the first two designs.  January is called "Snow Garden" and February is called "Valentine Rose".  You will need to call us so we can get you all signed up or if you would prefer just the charts  they sell for $9.00 a piece.  The last 4 houses will come out in a book form in September and will include additional finishing details.  I saw the sampler started in the show room and it will be done in two rows, I thought it was just the best.

More Pictures will be coming!

"Autumn at Hawk Hollow Run" is the NEW Carriage House Samplings design.  I tell you Cathy has to stop doing this to us.  I really love the designs altogether but the Witch and the Turkey really stand out, as much as I love turkeys I think this is the best stitched one I've seen.  The design on 32 count is 11 1/2 x 38 3/8.  It is a long and inviting sampler to stitch but you will love stitching it.  The cost of the chart is $36.00.  This was her only new offering for this market and it was a huge hit.

I don't know if any of you started the Jenny Bean Sampler series last fall but she has added the Jenny Bean Christmas Sampler and now Jenny Bean's Humble Servant Sampler this market.  I think they are fun and certainly worth a notice.  The newest pattern and threads sell for $42.00.  The original Jenny with it Limited Edition Gentle Arts Threads sells for $29.00 and the Christmas is $44.00.

The Primitive Needle was another one of my favorite designers.  The designs are very primitive and focus on Halloween, we like that.  I know you are going to be excited over these designs, the colors and linens are also very well chosen.  This is the Wicked Alphabet on the left.  The Crescent Angel is a quick little primitive you would enjoy.  Near Halloween when witches go riding would also be fun.  I know there are several of my Halloween lovers that will need to stitch the Tombstone Spots, and Her Wicked Best is all I can ask of myself so I'm sure we can all identify with this one.  The charts range from $10.00 to $20.00. Live Simply is another choice not every chart is Halloween I think this a great choice for Spring.  In fact our primitive sampler club members will be very excited to know there first shipment will be a new sampler from this designer. It will be considered 2 shipments but you should have it ready to display for fall.  This club is supposed to be shipping 6 times a year but this year I will be sending one less.  When you get your sampler you will understand it uses silks and some very special linens so this equalizes the price point.

We just got in some more of our neat jewelry.  I'm loving Giddy up doesn't that just say it all for us.  This adorable little necklace says on the opposite side "When I grow up I want to be cowgirl".  You get it all with the chain for $26.00.  The little farm girl charm with the chain comes to $23.75 it is pink on one side and a soft teal blue on the other, very cute, the circle monograms are $26.00 and have a sweet old wall paper back that also looks sweet and the cool hearts that you can wear alone or add to other charm are $8.50.  It is just fun jewelry and they make great gifts for good buds.

Chessie and Me has some great new designs my favorite is her new reproduction sampler, the Sarah Talbot 1787.  Kits are available.  Strawberry Banke  is another new sampler and a really fun new stitch I like the house off set it is just a neat bonus. For all of us cat lovers  Chessies Fern kit at $22.00 is just perfect.  For helping Linda stitched one for me.  Yeah!!!   I have a model to show you.  You will also enjoy the Botanical Sewing Pocket and Fob and the Rabbit Run pin Cushion.  everyone loved this little 8 sided piece.  Linda assures me it is very easy to put together.  I love Linda's designs because they are personal, challenging and the charts and instructions are always clear.  Remember we are still signing up for her new club I think she may be ready by May.  You can get more details if you look at the Girl Club information.

This is our new quilt kit, it is so new we are waiting for bags to put the pattern in but the kits are all ready to go and the quilt is ready to debut for your approval.  It is pretty swell!  This is "My Little Valentine" it is 28 x 28 just the right size you can get it done and the kit is only $32.50.  Our pattern will sell for $6.50 and be a first in series of little quilts we like to do from time to time, the pattern is a courthouse step block.  I really love the colors and can see it as a table topper or just hanging it looks festive and fun for the holiday.

I think you will find these new paper napkins quite perfect for the occasion, the dinner napkins are $6.00 and the cocktails are $5.00 they make great hostess gifts and a mighty fine Valentine.

We have a few new items in for Valentines Day.  I think you are going to love these our candles.  They are scented with cranberry and the color is also a rich cranberry red with a cut out heart.  They come packaged with rose hips and are in two sizes $9.95, and $14.95. We also have a hurricane that comes with a glass voltive and candle inside this one sells for $24.95.

You will also notice a definite farmhouse look and accents from a French farmhouse seem to be popping up in the decor.  We have some great new tin organizers and that certainly fits the time of year I think we all need to organize after the holidays.  I love this tray it has four compartments and I think for anyone that sews it is a really great idea. The trays sell for $15.50.  I also found some really great drawers for organizing.  They are red and you can get either a 2 drawer unit for $75.00 or one with 3 drawers for $95.00.  Ok now I'm going to tell you about the best candle it is called Perfect Morning and it is a coffee scent but a great coffee scent the scent your kitchen or any room just right.  The best thing is it burns CLEAN there is absolutely no soot and it burns straight down to the bottom, they are soy.  It is the best $19.95 you can spend and of course there are other great scents I think you will also enjoy like winterberries and old dough bowl.  These would make a great little Valentine gifts too.  If you scroll down to Carley pics you will see I have added a couple new ones.  I also wanted to give you a look at our Joyeoux Noel stitchery from Blackbird Designs.  I am never content and I had to make it our so I used the distress it on it and does it ever look old.  Alma Allen was here over the holidays and she approved. ***Our pear linen for "Tis the Season" just arrived today!!!  If you have been waiting for the kit with the silk threads it runs $70.30 complete.   I have to say the linen is perfect and worth waiting for and we will be working on our model right away. That cardinal would be so perfect for this time of year my feeders have been full of them this winter.  Spring Hyacinths are are so fresh looking and these look very real.  They even come under a great glass dome and on an old cement looking plate for $57.00.  What a great way to welcome spring and help us through the remaining days of winter.  We also have some great new fabric covered boxes in just the perfect colors, they go with our quilts and in the spring decor just perfectly. The set of three are only $20.95.  I love this aged reproduction French mirror.  It has beautiful detail and if you have a place for this it will become a treasured favorite.  It really can go in any room, a foyer, living, over a buffet or even in a bedroom.  We just remade more kits of the square in a square table runners.  It is made out of flannels and the colors and plaids are really pleasing.  Here is another great quilt designed by Vickie called Homestead Lane.  How cool is this and although we brought it out for the holidays It really couldn't be a better project for this time of year.  It makes up 52" x 52", a perfect table topper size, and the colors are so right for right now.  The kit is$79.95.   I have another quilt up my sleeve, that would be our Tumbler.  This quilt has the perfect colors, old pinks, reds, and browns for Valentines Day and because it is a panel it is quite doable.  You can't miss on this quilt for $57.50.  It is made out of my Worn & Loved II fabric line which I'm going to be so sad when it is gone but the new Simpler Tymes is going to be just as good.  Another great quilt we have loved is the Amalies Many Blessings quilt I have hanging on our cupboard door, it is 72 x 82 and the kits sell for $150.00. We love to give our quilts unusual borders and setting squares this quilt is a great example of that concept.  More new items for the home, we are all loving the tin calendar it is a great size and features a pic of Paris the La Rue de Lyon it is pretty neat for $21.25.  There is a magnetic open square to keep you on the right day of each month and it is good for any year. You probably are noticing our great twig easels are they fun to display with and we have several sizes.  Another thing I like to use in a display is an aged mirror and we have several, some are on pedestals and others hang.  I like the way they show off lighting, images etc you will notice I even put them in our cupboards.  This is just another view of Fannies Favorite, the kit, and our wool kits for Maggie's Winter Bed Quilt another great project found in her last book.  The cost for the wool kit runs $112.00.  You will also notice we have some great new chalkware sheep and another view of our spring fleurs.  The shop has definitely made a great transformation this past week.

I think I'm going to start a blog, I have drug my feet because of the time factor but can see its value so you have something new to watch for this year.  As I was sitting by my Christmas tree this past week I thought about the fact I get asked about how I decorate my home, and does it look like the shop so I thought I might share with you my tree and few things I like to do for the holidays.  The neat thing was as I was sitting by the tree and I happened to look up and see the beautiful Blue Moon shining through the window so I got out the camera and decided to snap a few pictures.  We only see this moon once every 19 years so I thought it was something rare enough I wanted to save it and who knows if I will ever see 19 more years to see it again. I have many different ornaments, some the girls have made me  some I have made, lots of mercury glass and I collect antique ornaments I like to use too.  A couple of my favorites that are handmade are patterns from Maggie B. The paper bird on the right Suzanne made for me this year from Maggie's new book Natures Offerings she used a favorite Aunts Bean Soup recipe.  Now how great is that?  The other bird ornament which we still have a few kits left of@ $20.00 was great fun to make we girls all made one last year after our Christmas party.  Here are just a few more views of different things around the house.  I love to use our cedar garlands from the shop, they drape so well in old boxes , on tables and mantels and cupboards and look so real and I also love using lots of natural greens.   This is our little stray cat Maddy on the right do we love this cat and she is just about the most affectionate cat you have ever met she likes her picture taken too..  I also like trees and you can find them all over the  house, some natural and some decked with ornaments.  I do like to put out my Santa collection too they tend to get grouped in many places so I get to enjoy them. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without my quilts they tend to be stacked and out everywhere.  This basket quilt was reproduced a few years ago in the shop and is a favorite.

January 29th, 2010

I have a couple of new pictures this week.   I just got home from a little Nana time with Sara and Carley.  She is growing up so quick.  Here are some new pictures I took of her at 6 weeks with mama, and this is another new picture dressed in what else but pink.

I have new pictures of our little "pudden"!  My how she has grown, would you believe she is 4 weeks old and has grown a whole inch and weighs in at 8 lbs.   Her little face has filled out and she notices things, what a little honey.  I miss her, I told Sara it is so nice to feel no stress and just enjoy taking care of baby when I get to come to give mama a break.  We are all always kissing her so Sara thought she needed some lips to prove it I know she is my little precious Valentine.  What a good little girl, we are hoping for brown eyes but too soon to tell.

I know you are all anxious to see the newest arrival, drum roll please.   Our whole family welcomes Miss Carley Jean ScottThe photo on the left was taken New Years Eve before I came back home.   Carley loves her mama and pink and she is growing right in front of our eyes.  She is a very content baby and definitely Nana's good girl we even took her on her first shopping trip to the grocery store. She passed that test, but we knew she would.

I can hardly wait to see and hold her again this week.  The shop girls, that would be all of the in house grandmas, are anxious for a little cuddle too.

We also have a few new patterns you might want to think about.  I always find at the end of the year I'm longing to work on some new holiday patterns for some reason I'm not quite tired of Christmas yet or maybe haven't had time to stitch by the Christmas tree and of course we just happened to get a couple in just before Christmas.  From Pineberry Lane you could have two completed projects pretty quickly and have them ready for next year.  One is called Merry Christmas Hanging Sampler it is 9 x 5.  We have it kitted with the old rusty bells, linen and threads for $24.65 and then there is December 25th  which is a great primitive cupboard hanger it is 4 x 4 also kitted with chenille, linen, threads, and rusty bells for $17.25.  Maggie just sent in her new Sewing Pouch I will give you a front and inside view.  We like this one a whole bunch she happened to show us at Boxwood and of course everyone needed one right now.  They have arrived and the pattern is $9.00.

We just got in another new pattern that we plan to kit.  The pattern is called "Windy Sister"  I love that name.  It is a Country Threads pattern and it really is two patterns for only $8.00 and that's a good value.  The quilts are smaller but we will make one of them larger and make the kit so you can do up both of the patterns.  That is always a good thing.  The quilt is 31 x 39 this is what we will enlarge and the table topper is 30 x 30.  I have also ordered a new Liberty Star pattern you are going to enjoy too.  I have 2 of the new Maggie patterns cut out that we will be kitting so watch for pictures of them.  One is her first heart mat and I'm totally doing it up for Valentines Day I think you will like it and the other 2 are from a pattern called Let it Snow!  I am really doing these different too.  They look more primitive not quite so white and I'm thinking of making both designs and putting them on the front or back so you can reverse the pillow.  I am doing the snowman on tobacco Matka.  I can never do anything without just a little change.
