Be Inspired by a Bounty of Autumn Layers!

September 2020

“Golden Hour” is featured on the table, “Cider Stars” is over the mantle and “Wyoming Valley Oak” is on the wall above the bed.

Autumn is a time of layers outside and in.  The layers of color mother nature displays outside are always an amazing wonder to behold as the colors of the layers we amass in the the seasonal quilts we are releasing.

We will be opening the showroom Tuesday September 8th as we do every September for Quilt Expo to preview our new seasonal quilt collection.

The tablescape I set up in the showroom is one of my favorite inspirations for this season.  The bounty of layers and rich colors in Barb’s “Golden Hour” quilt are showcased by using our awesome new Magnolia wreath, the antique brass lanterns and the new placemats.   If you are contemplating a seasonal gathering you might want to make this idea a consideration.

In the background you see two of Barb’s new quilt.  “Cider Stars” is over the mantle, its a great size and looks great on the wall or on a table.  The rich nutty browns are really what sets it off.

Wyoming Valley Oak

The other quilt on the wall is called “Wyoming Valley Oak”.

Cider Stars

If you love the idea of incorporating a little applique with your piecing this could be the quilt for you.  It really is stunning the choice of all the fabric makes this design sing.

“Mary’s Queen Anne’s” lace quilt is on the bed.  The soft palette used is from Reed’s Legacy and Diamond Textiles. It is one beauty for sure.  I think it was the soft colors and texture that sparked the name Queen Anne’s Lace.  No matter what it was matter it remains one of my favorite late summer road flowers.

Mary also designed a really great fall quilt she is calling “Ragweed Alley”.  It is full of seasonal color and this is one of those quilts that could be in a primitive decor as well as a traditional.  It has a wonderful patina and I

Queen Anne’s Lace

am pretty sure you will love making and displaying it for a long time.  It’s a what we like to call a classic!

Ragweed Alley

“Which Hat”?  That is a good question for all of us as we see this playful pieced quilt.

This is one of two great quilts we have selected to do for the season from a new book called Sweater Weather.  Great book, tremendous value for $23.99.

Halloween-ish

The other quilt and I have been talking about because I am crushing on it is called “Halloween-ish”!  This quilt speaks neutral and can go just about anywhere and live through the entire fall season and then some.

Pumpkins and Cream

The next quilt is called “Pumpkins and Cream”.  This particular quilt has been very popular and for the same reason Halloween-ish is .  It has a calming neutral palette.  This is made from Fig Tree fabric and is a Fig Tree pattern. The orange does not scream orange and the neutral background with pops of gray color give it a pleasing look that will be swell in a country farmhouse.  It will be really swell displayed with real or faux pumpkins.

Country Crossroads

I would like to show you  a couple more new quilts today  but there are several more I will be posting through out this week so stay tuned.

This is Barb’s “Country Crossroads” quilt from my new line of fabric called Country Soiree’

The next quilt is called ” Star Gazing Soiree’ “ and it was designed by Gwen.

Star Gazing Soiree”

Both of these quilts are exceptional pieced examples of the line.  We have several more that we will be showing.  Carol Hopkins has also designed two for us and Mary and Barb have more designs.  All of the quilts can pre-ordered and if you want a kit we urge you to do this before we run out of fabric.  I always try to guess yardage needed so as not to have that problem but in today’s world that has become increasingly hard.  The quilts are shown under my fabric on line.  www.sgcountrysampler.com  I will post more quilts as the week progresses.  I hope you are inspired by the seasonal splendor.

This is made with one beautiful line of fabric called “Morris and Company”.  The pattern we used for this quilt is oddly called Ashley Elaine so we have chosen to just call it Morris & Company.  The quilt measures 64″ 84′.  This is a nice usable size.

The cost is $120.00 for the kit and the pattern is $10.00.  We have labeled the placement of the fabric we used as it would be confusing if you try to go by the cover photo on the pattern.

The little sampler shown is a Kathy Barrick pattern known as “Mary Anne March”.  The framed sampler is done on 46 count just because our P. K. loves a small count of linen.  I am still working on 36 so need to graduate and grow up!  We also did the sampler shown as a little needlebook.  It is good to have options.

Speaking of needlebooks this is a new design by Lucy Beam.

Vintage Baskets Quilt with our great fall berry wreath and faux pumpkin

It is called “Coverlet Needlebook” and we doing it as written with Gast Clover but I think this will be one of those patterns you can customize to fit your color preference.  The kit is assembled with all the finishing fabric you need to complete for $36.00.  We are stitching this so we will have be able to picture as soon as it is completed.

The picture on the left is of Paula Barnes “Vintage Baskets” the kits are ready to ship  for $99.50.  Paula’s pattern is scheduled in this week and sells for $12.00. The new fall wreath we are showing is a great fall into winter wreath. We love to show off great lasting decor.  The wreaths are $74.95.  Fall would  not be fall without these aged old faux pumpkins, they are lasting and with the rainy season upon us make sense.  We have many shapes and sizes to enhance you fall decor.

The Pumpkins you see on the right are made out of tin, they look really swell and the idea they can be filled for a centerpiece, filled with treats make them rather inviting.  They are sold as a set of three for $175.00.    The new sage colored dough bowls are going to be great anytime of the year but imagine with greens and pomegranates for the holidays.  The bowls are found pieces and sell for $110.00,
